Win and Régine’s set at Midnight Masquerade

Win Butler and Regine Chassagne

Win Butler and Régine Chassagne played a very rare set together at Midnight Masquerade on new year’s eve. The event was a fundraiser for Artists for Peace and Justice‘s charity work in countries like Haiti. To witness it all you’d have to somehow cough up $1500 and head off to The St. Regis Aspen Resort in Aspen, CO.

Win and Régine don’t usually do gigs as a duo so those lucky enough to have been there were in for a treat. Matt Berninger, lead singer in The National, joined them for Wake Up. Régine on the grand piano for that one.

Here’s what they played together with the band Zing Experience. The unfamiliar song titles are Zing Experience songs and stuff as I understand it. Not Win and Régine/Arcade Fire songs.

    Rebellion (Lies)
    To the Haitian Nurses Lost
    Ma Woule
    Here Comes the Night Time
    Wake Up (feat. Matt Berninger)
    The Suburbs

A little “D’yer Mak’er” (Led Zeppelin cover) also found its way into the set. Order of the songs not confirmed.

Yep, that’s the first run-through of “Porno” to date. The band did some acapella bits and pieces on the Reflektor tour but never the full thing and never with instrumentation. So yeah, easily worth the $1500 entrance!

Flick through some photos from the night.
