Win Butler covers The Boss

Win Butler was a late addition to Jam The Vote at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY – on Nov 6, 2016. Jam The Vote was an event/concert put on by Preservation Hall Jazz Band to raise awareness of the importance to vote in the upcoming US election. Win Butler has made no secret he’s fully behind Hillary Clinton and despises her rival for the top job, Donald Trump. He made no secret of it last night either. After thanking the immigrants that helped build the United States to what it is today and also his great great grandfather for sneaking on a boat to try and come to America he sat down behind a piano and started up a cover by himself of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the U.S.A.”, not before long though Preservation Hall Jazz Band joined in. Together they performed a powerful version of the song, extra powerful as Win very clearly is well aware of the song’s true meaning. Hint: It’s not the patriotic anthem many seem to think it is. Watch it all below.

Arcade Fire performed the song during their WayHome set this summer too.
