There was hope in the air Arcade Fire would at long last play something new off that ever elusive fifth album that they’ve more or less finished. That didn’t happen but those in the crowd were treated to the first performance of Windowsill since 2008, almost a decade ago! I really hope they bring that back into the mix for when the proper touring starts again in the summer. Win aptly took aim at Donald Trump yet again before Windowsill, “Fuck Donald Trump now and for a thousand years!”. Couldn’t agree more with that sentiment.

Marika was back playing with them, it’d be great if she decides to tour with them again. It’s been a while now!

During Haiti Régine was joined on stage by Haitian dancers. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I hope those dancers will tour with them. They’re badass.

“Ke M Pa Sote”, the Boukman Eksperyans song, is one of Régine’s favourites so it wasn’t really a surprise when they decided to play it together with Paul Beaubrun and Fwonte. Still, awesome.

The band was by all accounts thoroughly enjoying themselves and everyone I’ve talked to appears to have had a great night. Now we can only wait for that album to drop, or something to be released from it. It surely can’t be far away now, surely! Or can it? I guess it can, but c’mon!

The band let slip they’re playing two Montreal dates in the autumn. So those of you who couldn’t make it last night, there’s your chance.

After the gig Win as DJ Windows 98 dropped tunes, it looked like good fun!

Scroll down for photos from last night.
